Okowa inspects Asaba multiple storm drainage, charges contractors handling proeedjects to sp up work pace, as Asagba lauds Governor for Asaba Int’l Airport project

Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on Thursday (08/03/18) inspected multiple storm drainage projects and  charged the contractors to speed up the pace of work.
He said “the contractors must fully mobilize to site, they must get to appreciable level before the rain commences in full.”

The Governor frowned at the pace of work at the drainage site by St. Mary Vianney Catholic Church designed to empty flood water from Marian Babangida Way, DBS road, and adjoining areas.
“The pace of work here is very slow, if the rains come earlier than expected, the drainage will collapse, in some areas, the soil is softer than others, the contractors must mobilize fully to site and increase the pace of work,” the Governor said.
Governor Okowa disclosed that when completed, issues of flood in the state capital will be a thing of the past, observing that the contractor handling the storm drain that will take water out of DLA and Jesus Saves Road was doing a good job.
He urged motorists and commuters who are using alternative road to the Nnebisi road which was cut off as a result of the construction work to be patient as the contractor had shown commitment to open up the road within two weeks as envisaged.
Governor Okowa accompanied by some members of the Delta State Executive Council, members of House of Assembly also, inspected the drainage that will empty water from Okpanam and the level of work done on Okpanam/Asaba road project.

Meanwhile, the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the massive construction work going on at the Asaba International Airport.
The Asagba through his Council of Chiefs who went on inspection visit of the airport Thursday (08/03/18) marveled at the level of work done at the airport.

“This is a great job that we are seeing here, we say a great thank you to His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for what is happening here,” adding: “that Asaba people are peaceful and patient does not mean that we are weak, we have witnessed three democratically elected Governors in our state, this administration has not received half of the money others received but, he has done very well.”
He continued, “from what we have seen, we the entire Asaba people and those residing in Asaba are grateful to Governor Okowa, we ask him to prepare for possibly, third term in office.”
Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah, thanked the Asagba-in-Council for taking time to inspect the projects being executed, noting that the Governor has created new towns and cities with the provision of infrastructure.
