Old Secretariat security lapse worries Delta commissioner

The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has frowned at the security lapse inside the old secretariat complex in Asaba.

Mr. Ukah made this known this morning, Monday, July 3, 2017 when he visited the section of the Ministry of Information in the premises to inspect the armoured cable which was vandalized by unknown persons.
He expressed surprise that such an evil act will be carried out without anyone seeing the perpetrators considering that stores and drinking joints are around the location.

The Commissioner for Information, who was conducted round by the Director of Printing Press in the ministry, Mr. Lucky Omokri, however, said that it was a thing of joy that the hoodlums were unable to take the cable away.
Mr. Ukah Pledged that he and his colleagues will put heads together to see how to beef up security to avoid a recurrence of the ugly incidence.
The functioning Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Paul Osahor, and Aides of the commissioner accompanied Mr. Ukah on the visit.
Banneronlinenews.com recalls that some months ago, the office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Orientation, Barrister Eugene Uzum was pillaged two consecutive times, when thieves broke into the office also situated in the old Secretariat.
Gadgets and other equipment estimated at millions of Naira were said to have been carted away by the thieves.
Uzum told banneronlinenews.com then that the matter had been reported to the police.

Observers are surprised that despite the earlier thefts in the Office of the Executive assistant two consecutive times, officials in the old secretariat did not find it necessary to beef up security in the premises.
