Maybach For Governor, Prado For Commissioners, Hunger For Deltans — When Government Becomes Ukodo For The Few

If you want to see how not to govern a state, come to Delta State. A state with so much oil, so much money, so much allocation — and yet, so little to show for it.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori promised MORE Agenda. What Deltans are seeing is “MORE WASTAGE.” Maybach Governance In A Poverty Capital. Let’s do the inventory of this administration’s priorities:

– Maybach as official car for the Governor – In a state where minimum wage is ₦70,000, the Governor cruises in a Maybach worth over ₦300 million.
– Prado SUVs for Commissioners and top aides – Over 40 brand new Prados at about ₦105m each. For what? To visit bad roads?
– 100+ SUVs for traditional rulers – A bazaar. A political bribe. ₦10.05 billion gone to buy loyalty.
– Lavishly furnished apartments for officials – While Deltans sleep in darkness.

This is not governance. This is luxury governance. Government of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.

₦200+ Billion Flyovers While Deltans Can’t Go Home. The crown jewel of this waste is the much-touted ₦200+ billion for four flyover bridges on federal roads in Warri-Effurun axis, Ughelli and Agbor.

Who needs flyovers when the roads leading to people’s homes don’t exist?

Go and check:
– Udu road – Impassable
– Eku-Abraka to Abavo road – Death trap
– Onicha-Ugbo and Onicha-Olona roads – Abandoned
– Adonte road in Aniocha South – Forgotten
– Trans-Warri-Ode Itsekiri roads – Swamp of promises

These are just but a few listed. Deltans are not asking for flyovers in the sky. They are asking for roads on the ground to get to their farms, schools and hospitals.

But no. Flyover is fine for commissioning. Flyover is fine for camera. Flyover is fine for kickback.

So, ₦200+ billion for federal roads to impress Abuja, while state roads that belong to Deltans are left to kill them. What kind of priority is that?

The Ukodo Republic. The Governor proudly calls himself “Ukodo.” A sweet, rich, traditional delicacy. He did not lie. Under him, the Delta treasury has truly become Ukodo — a big pot of soup that he and his hungry officials are sharing with relish while the owners of the pot watch with empty stomachs.

Where is the Ukodo in:
– Education? – Schools without teachers, without chairs, without roofs.
– Health? – General hospitals without doctors, without drugs.
– Industrialization? – No single new industry in three+ years.
– Investment? – No enabling environment, no ease of doing business. Just thugs collecting levies.

Critical areas are left to rot, while the government lives large. This is the definition of a wasteful administration.

A Governor Without Capacity? Development experts have said it. Political observers have whispered it. Now the people are shouting it: Sheriff does not have the capacity to govern Delta.

His three+ years have proved it. No vision. No thinking. No depth.

He inherited a state that James Ibori, Uduaghan and even Okowa, with all their flaws, tried to position. What has he added?

Debt. Waste. And convoy.

The Awakening: A New Delta. Deltans are tired. Deltans in Lagos, in London, in America are tired of defending the indefensible. They are craving for a “do-away with old politics.”

And they are right.

It will be *unhealthy, dangerous, and suicidal* to return this administration in 2027 for another four years of Maybach governance.

Delta needs a “New Delta – New Vision, New Thinking.”

A Delta where:
– Roads to villages matter more than flyovers for cameras
– Money is spent on jobs, not SUVs
– Schools work, hospitals work, not just Government House works
– Treasury is not Ukodo for officials

Deltans have tasted this MORE Agenda. It is sour. It is wasteful. It is anti-people.

In 2027, they will spit it out.
