The Director-General of Warri, Uvwie and Environs special Areas Development Agency, WUEDA, Prince Godwin Ejinyere, has called on communities hosting developmental projects within its mandate areas to assist the government in supervising and maintaining these projects, as this would encourage the government to do more.
Prince Ejinyere made these remarks when he led management staff of the agency on an inspection tour of the on-going rehabilitation of Odibo, Bazunu and Lower Erejuwa roads in Warri South Local Government Area.
Ejinyere frowned at the quality of work being done, warning the contractor to strictly follow approved specifications, stressing that the Agency would not compromise on the quality of its projects.
While directing the contractor, NIRVANA, to erect the project signposts showing the Contractor’s name and that of WUEDA, the Director-General advised the contractor to desilt the drains and clear the debris from the road to give commuters free access to the road.
The WUEDA boss also noticed during the inspection that residents in the area broke some parts of the drains and channelled their waste water to it. He warned perpetrators of such acts to desist as defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted.
Prince Ejinyere commended the contractor for carrying on with the job even when most contractors had stopped working due to the high cost of materials.
Accompanying the DG on the inspection were the Director of Projects at the agency, Engr. Bemigho Ofoeyeno, and the site engineer, Engr. Brume Okeme.
