YDP decries PDP’s inability to provide Democracy dividends to Deltans; set to wrest power

The Young Democratic Party (YDP), Asaba chapter today, Monday, July 31, 2017 decried the Inability of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta state to deliver dividends of democracy to Deltans.
The State chairman of the party, Barrister Festus Ofume handed down the criticism while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the inauguration of the party’s executive at its state congress held in Asaba.
Mr. Ofume said: “What we have as the ruling party in Delta State has not been able to give Deltans what they want. What we have currently as government has not augured well for Delta State. YDP has come to stay; It is the party of t young people that is out to give leadership back to the people.
“This is a new era; it’s a new time in Delta state; we have a task to move YDP forward in Delta State. Our aim is to move from being and opposition party to being the party in power in the state,” he declared.
The national chairman of the party, Barrister (Mrs) Aye Georgina Dakpokpo shortly after te new executive was inaugurated at the well attended state congress witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DISIEC), and security agencies warned the news state executive members to uphold the tenets of the YDP constitution. “We don’t want impunity in running our party,” she said.
Mrs Dakpokpo to the party members and supporters to go to every nook and cranny of the state and create awareness of the party in the minds o the people, particularly the youths. She said: “YDP stands for the young people and for those who are young at heart. It is for the upwardly mobile young entrepreneurs, professionals and every young person. Today is our tomorrow. It is the party for the youth.”
She urged young people not to allow politicians with money to buy them over, but that when such politicians come with their money, they should collect the money but vote for YDP. “Today, we have started a revolution and a movement. We believe it’s time for the youths to take over the ruler ship of this country. We are old enough,” the national chairman said.
Answering a question, Mrs. Dakpokpo said YDP is made up of young professionals. “We are not an appendage of the PDP or any political party. We are young; we a see ourselves as the vanguard, and we have the verve to take Nigeria to places,” stated.
She said the party would field candidate in all the elections, including Anambra State where YDP will field a governorship candidate.
Mrs Dakpokpo dismissed claims that the party is factionalised. She said as the party stands today, the party has no faction as every issued has been resolved, even as she confirmed that some persons in the party were expelled from the party, and that the party is now one.
Highlight of the YDP state congress is the announcement of some members of the Party’s state exco members, namely: Barrister Festus Ofume, ( State Chairman), Comrade Udi Benjamin ( state secretary)
Pastor Israel Mosieri, Mrs. Elo Okolo, state woman leader, Awata Solomon (organizing secretary), Victor Biane (Publicity Seccretary) among many others.
