President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council as chairman and vice chairman respectively ahead of the January 2027 presidential election.
The composition of the campaign council was released on Saturday, with APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, also named as a vice chairman, while former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, was appointed Director-General.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State will serve as Secretary of the council, while APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman will serve as Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
The campaign structure brings together senior party leaders, serving and former governors, lawmakers and key members of the Tinubu administration as the ruling party prepares for the 2027 presidential contest.
The President will be supported by a team of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; veteran politician, Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni have been appointed Deputy Director-Generals for the campaign in the South and North.
They will work alongside Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, in coordinating the two zones.
Former Edo State Governor, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, will oversee mobilisation as Deputy Director-General, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration.
James Abiodun Faleke, who played a prominent role in the APC’s 2022/2023 presidential campaign, returns as Deputy Director-General in charge of Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Faleke will coordinate the party’s zonal election directors, including Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.
Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori were appointed secretaries of the Election Planning Directorate.
In the legal department, Muiz Adeyemi Banire will serve as Director, supported by Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members include Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi; former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema; Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.
The media and strategic communications directorate will be coordinated by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.
Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka have been appointed coordinating deputy directors in the media directorate.
Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as coordinating secretaries.
Segun Dada returns as Director of New Media, a position he occupied during the 2022/2023 campaign, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.
The council also named five spokespersons, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.
In a charge to members of the council, President Tinubu urged them to work tirelessly to secure victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.
He also directed leaders of the various directorates to accommodate other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign.
According to Tinubu, the APC will enter the campaign season with what he described as a record of achievements capable of persuading Nigerians to renew the party’s mandate.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” the President said.
He added: “We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”
Tinubu urged the campaign team to showcase the administration’s achievements and “inspire hope in every corner” of the country.
“Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards,” he declared.
