ASABA, Delta State – The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency has ramped up its environmental sanitation drive across the capital territory, evacuating illegal refuse dumps and enforcing compliance with waste disposal regulations ahead of the third anniversary of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
The large-scale exercise, which covered major roads including Summit Road, Anwai/Government House Road, Okpanam Road, Airport Road along the Benin-Asaba Expressway, Maryam Babangida Way, Cabinet Road, High Court Road, and Anwai Road, was personally supervised by the Agency’s Director General, Patrick Ukah, alongside the Head of Environment, Isaac Nwosu.
Operations focused on sweeping tarred roads, litter picking, premises inspections, issuing environmental notices, and evacuating refuse heaps—particularly along Summit Road, the Anwai/Government House Road axis, Okpanam Road, and the Airport corridor of the Benin-Asaba Expressway. All collected waste was transported to government-approved dump sites.
Speaking during the exercise, Ukah reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to a cleaner, safer, and more aesthetically pleasing capital territory, in line with the governor’s developmental vision. He also called on residents, traders, and business owners to support government efforts by following sanitation regulations and adopting proper waste disposal practices.
The Agency disclosed that the aggressive sanitation and enforcement operation would continue tomorrow, as part of ongoing efforts to sustain cleanliness and environmental orderliness across the capital territory.
