The immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Elumelu secured victory in the party’s primary election conducted through the direct mode across the 42 wards in the four local government areas that make up the constituency.
He was officially declared winner by the APC Delta State Returning Officer, Chief Val Arenyeka, at the party’s central collation centre located at the Oshimili South Local Government Event Centre in Asaba.
The primary election was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as well as security agencies.
With the outcome, Elumelu becomes the APC flag bearer for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives for the 2027 elections.
In his acceptance speech, Elumelu expressed appreciation to APC leaders, stakeholders and members for what he described as the confidence reposed in him to once again represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
“It is with utmost humility and gratitude that I address distinguished leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) for nominating me to fly the flag of the APC for re-election to represent the good people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections,” he said.

The former Minority Leader thanked God for the opportunity to serve and also appreciated members of his family, especially his elder brother, Dr. Tony Elumelu, for their support.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as visionary leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration had strengthened the APC across the country.
Elumelu also praised Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for implementing the MORE Agenda, which he said had repositioned the state and boosted support for the APC.
He further acknowledged former governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the National Working Committee and Delta State Working Committee of the APC, alongside members of the Ndudi Elumelu Campaign Council led by Dr. Darlington Ijeh.
Describing his emergence as a reflection of the trust and confidence party members and constituents have in him, Elumelu said the outcome signaled the people’s desire for a return to what he termed impactful representation.
According to him, his previous tenure in the House of Representatives witnessed several developmental projects in education, healthcare, agriculture, road infrastructure, housing and electricity across the constituency.
“Our people cannot wait to return to that era when the voice of our Constituency reverberated in the House of Representatives,” he stated.
Elumelu described his candidacy as a “unity ticket,” noting that the people of Aniocha/Oshimili had again demonstrated their ability to rise above divisions and rally behind a common cause.
He assured constituents that his return to the National Assembly would guarantee stronger representation and greater visibility for the constituency at the federal level.
“With me as a ranking member, our Constituency will have a stronger visibility, stronger connection and stronger voice in the House of Representatives,” he added.
The APC candidate also disclosed that plans were already underway to attract more development projects, jobs and empowerment opportunities to the constituency.
He, however, called on party members to remain united and work collectively toward APC’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
Elumelu also appealed to other aspirants, particularly Hon. Ngozi Lawrence Okolie, and aggrieved party members to embrace sportsmanship and support the party in the overall interest of the constituency.
