FODESAN commends Oborevwori on security summit, power Intervention in Delta

The Forum of Delta State Non-Governmental Organizations (FODESAN) has praised Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for convening the recent Delta State Security Summit and for taking steps to address electricity supply challenges in parts of the state.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Deacon Okezi Odugala, and Secretary, Mr. Ekenem Omosor, the forum described the security summit as a timely and strategic initiative aimed at strengthening peace, security and public safety across Delta State.

According to FODESAN, the summit demonstrated Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to tackling emerging security challenges through collaboration among government agencies, security institutions, traditional rulers, community leaders, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.

The forum noted that the gathering provided a platform for dialogue, intelligence sharing and collective action, which it said would contribute to developing sustainable solutions to insecurity and ensuring a safer environment for residents.

FODESAN emphasized that security remains a critical foundation for economic growth, investment, social stability and community development, adding that the governor’s proactive approach deserved commendation.

The organisation also lauded Oborevwori’s intervention in addressing power supply challenges affecting the Kwale and Isoko areas of the state, describing the initiative as a major step towards improving electricity supply and boosting economic activities in the affected communities.

It observed that improved power supply would support small and medium-scale enterprises, attract investments and enhance the quality of life of residents.

According to the forum, reliable electricity is a key driver of industrialisation and sustainable development, noting that the governor’s intervention aligns with the objectives of the administration’s MORE Agenda.

FODESAN further stated that the combined impact of improved security and enhanced electricity supply would create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, encourage job creation and promote inclusive socio-economic development across Delta State.

The forum reaffirmed its support for policies and programmes that advance the welfare of citizens and urged residents to partner with government by providing useful information to security agencies, safeguarding public infrastructure and contributing to community development.

Expressing confidence in the state’s future, FODESAN said Delta would continue to record significant progress in security, infrastructure development, economic growth and citizen welfare under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership.
