FODESAN hails Oborevwori’s 13th-month salary, teacher recruitment, welfare reforms

The Forum of Delta State Non-Governmental Organisations (FODESAN) has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what it described as his unwavering commitment to the welfare and socio-economic development of Deltans through people-centred policies and programmes.

In a statement jointly signed by its Coordinator, Deacon Okezi Odugala, and Secretary, Mr. Ekenem Omosor, the forum particularly lauded the governor’s decision to institutionalise the payment of a 13th-month salary for civil servants in the state.

FODESAN described the policy as a landmark initiative that demonstrates the administration’s appreciation for the dedication and sacrifices of the state’s workforce.

According to the group, the move will significantly improve workers’ welfare, boost morale and enhance productivity across the Delta State public service.

The forum also praised the approval for the recruitment of teachers into the state’s education sector, describing it as a strategic intervention that would strengthen the quality of education, address the shortage of qualified teachers, improve learning outcomes and create employment opportunities for qualified Deltans.

FODESAN further commended the Oborevwori administration’s interventions in the transport sector, noting that the measures would ease the burden of transportation on residents, improve mobility, stimulate economic activities and make transportation more affordable and accessible across the state.

The group equally applauded the government’s commitment to providing housing opportunities for civil servants, describing access to decent and affordable housing as a critical component of workers’ welfare and long-term security.

It said the various initiatives reflected Governor Oborevwori’s resolve to improve the living standards of public servants while delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people.

According to the forum, the policies are clear evidence of the governor’s commitment to advancing the objectives of the MORE Agenda through programmes that directly impact the lives of citizens.

FODESAN urged Governor Oborevwori to sustain the momentum, assuring him of the forum’s continued partnership with the Delta State Government in promoting good governance, accountability, inclusive development and policies aimed at improving the quality of life of all Deltans.
