OBIOR, Delta State – The Aniocha North Local Government has officially released the funeral schedule for the late former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Benjamin Sunday Chukwuenweniwe Elue, who passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 85.
The announcement builds on earlier plans made by the family and sets out a series of events to celebrate the elder statesman’s life and legacy.
According to the approved programme, a Service of Songs will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at Camp Benjamin, Obior, in Aniocha North LGA.
On Friday, April 17, proceedings will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the body’s departure from the mortuary to his residence at Garden Owezie, Obior, followed by a lying-in-state at 9:00 a.m. at the same venue.
A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, Obior, after which interment will be conducted at his residence by 12 noon, led by the immediate family. A reception for guests will follow at Ukpali Primary School, Obior.
A Thanksgiving Service is set for Sunday, April 19, 2026, at All Saints Anglican Church, Obior, while traditional rites will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at his residence.
The statement also noted that Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, will lead top government officials to the burial, with former governors, deputy governors, past top functionaries, and other dignitaries from within and outside the state expected to attend.
Hon. Emmanuel Bazim Chinye, Chairman of Aniocha North Local Government, assured that the Burial Committee has made adequate arrangements to ensure a seamless and dignified farewell for the late former deputy governor, in recognition of his meritorious service to the state and nation.
