Former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has congratulated Deacon Chris Iyovwaye on the successful completion of his tenure as President of the Rotary Club of Warri, commending his impactful leadership and commitment to humanitarian service.
In a goodwill message issued on Friday, Omo-Agege praised Iyovwaye for translating Rotary International’s motto, “Service Above Self,” into tangible projects that improved lives across Delta State.
According to the former lawmaker, Iyovwaye’s one-year leadership was defined by meaningful interventions in water supply, healthcare and sustainable livelihood programmes that positively impacted communities rather than ceremonial achievements.
“Chris, you led that Club not as a title, but as a calling. In one year, you turned Rotary’s motto, ‘Service Above Self,’ from words on a banner into projects in communities. You chose to invest energy where it mattered most: water, health, and sustainable livelihoods for families across Delta. That is leadership measured not by applause, but by impact,” Omo-Agege said.
He also commended Iyovwaye’s leadership style, describing it as one marked by humility, discipline and quiet vision.
“What stood out most was the spirit you brought to the work: humility without weakness, vision without noise, and discipline without self-promotion. You raised the bar for the Rotary Club of Warri, and in doing so, you reminded us all that institutions grow stronger when they are led by men who serve first,” he added.
The former Deputy Senate President expressed confidence that Iyovwaye’s record of service would prepare him for greater responsibilities in the future, stressing that Delta State requires leaders who earn public trust through consistent acts of service.
“As someone who has watched your trajectory, I have no doubt that the same principles you applied in Rotary will continue to serve you and our people as you take on larger responsibilities. Delta needs leaders who understand that public trust is earned in small, consistent acts of service,” he stated.
Omo-Agege prayed for God’s continued guidance, strength and good health for the outgoing Rotary president, wishing him greater opportunities to serve Delta State and Nigeria.
“I celebrate you today, my brother. May God grant you renewed strength, sound health, and open doors for greater service to our dear Delta and Nigeria. Well done, and congratulations,” the statement concluded.
