The Nigeria Police Force has rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, three days after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed in a statement on Saturday that the victims were freed during a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department-Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on June 6, 2026.
According to the police, Mrs. Adegoke and her twin sons were kidnapped on June 3 while she was driving them to school in Ibadan.
The statement said the rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical operations that enabled operatives to track the kidnappers and confront them.
During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody where they are receiving medical care and support.
Inspector-General of Police commended the FID-IRT operatives and other officers involved in the mission, praising their courage, professionalism and commitment, which he said were instrumental to the successful rescue.
The police added that efforts had been intensified to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who escaped during the operation.
Preliminary intelligence, according to the statement, indicates that some of the fleeing suspects sustained gunshot injuries. Security operatives are continuing investigations and manhunts to ensure all those involved are arrested and prosecuted.
The Force also thanked members of the public for their cooperation and support, reaffirming its commitment to tackling violent crime and protecting lives and property across the country.
