Party spokesman declares 27 years of establishment rule have failed to deliver transformation, calls for a new governance model ahead of 2027 election.

Asaba, Delta State – The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fired a salvo at Delta State’s political establishment, declaring that the state’s prolonged suffering from crumbling roads, skyrocketing unemployment, and a dysfunctional healthcare system is the direct consequence of a governance model that has “failed for decades” .

In a hard-hitting statement, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Fred Akpewe, argued that the status quo is no longer acceptable and called for a radical shift in leadership ahead of the 2027 governorship polls .

Mr. Akpewe asserted that while administrations and slogans have changed over the years under the same political family, the fundamental challenges of poor infrastructure, youth unemployment, and lack of transparency have stubbornly persisted . This failure, he argued, mandates that responsible citizens consider a credible alternative.

“When a particular model consistently fails to deliver the desired outcomes, it is time to try another,” Akpewe stated, framing the upcoming election as a choice between maintaining a broken system and embracing a new direction .

The ADC is betting on Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, the party’s 2027 governorship candidate, as the embodiment of this alternative. Unlike the “traditional political class,” Akpewe emphasized Ogboru’s success in the private sector, where efficiency, accountability, and results are paramount . The party believes these qualities can be transplanted into public administration to unlock Delta’s economic potential .

“He is a resilient leader who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the progress of Delta State despite several electoral contests,” Akpewe said, noting that Ogboru’s supporters believe he is equipped to drive industrialisation and job creation rather than rely solely on federal allocations .

The call to action is straightforward: if decades of the same governance formula have failed to transform Delta, why not give a different model a chance? For the ADC, the answer lies in Chief Great Ogboru, a chance to test a new vision for the state .
